A Stay with History

When a design homage to the free spirit of Oscar Wilde meets Tenbrink’s craftsmanship and precision, spaces are created that tell stories. For Staycity Group’s “Wilde” brand, we had the opportunity to bring this unique spirit to life. Behind the magnificent 300-year-old Baroque walls in the historic heart of Vienna, a long-stay hotel was created that seamlessly connects past and present.

Here, the artistic vision of British designer Stephanie Barba Mendoza (SBM) met the historic architecture of Vienna’s “Posthöfe”. Grand archways, imperial proportions and protected historic structures provide the stage for an interior concept that deliberately breaks with convention. Bold colours, handcrafted details and extraordinary material combinations create an atmosphere that translates the spirit of Oscar Wilde into the present day.

For our team, this project was far more than the implementation of a design concept. As the company responsible for the FF&E package throughout the public areas, we coordinated and delivered the lobby, restaurant, bar and lounge spaces. The challenge was to bring together bespoke furniture, restored vintage lighting, handcrafted tiles from Southern England and modern 3D-printed elements into one cohesive overall concept.

The key challenge lay in integrating these exceptional design ideas precisely into the historic fabric of the building while meeting the demands of a modern long-stay hotel. Through close collaboration with Staycity, SBM London and all project stakeholders, a destination was created that embraces the character of Vienna while setting new accents of its own.

With Wilde Aparthotels Vienna, a hotel has been created that not only preserves history but reinterprets it for a new generation of guests.
